Detroit Dark Red works double duty- providing premium quality roots, but they also have excellent greens used as a substitute for spinach. This variety dates all the way back to 1892, and is STILL a favorite! That definitely says something! It’s great for fresh eating, canning, and pickling. Cold hardy, but will stand up to hot weather. Special Instructions: Soak seeds overnight in a damp towel before planting for better germination. Keep soil consistently and evenly moist to prevent beets from becoming woody. Succession plant every 2-3 weeks for longer harvest.
