Purple Top, White Globe Turnip

This nutritious heirloom turnip has smooth round roots that are bright purple above the ground and white below. Fine-grained. Stores well. Best eaten when young and tender (2 inches diameter roots) the flavor is mildly spicy like radishes. Both greens and roots are good steamed or eaten raw in salads. Young leaves make the classic cooked ‘southern greens’.
