Open-pollinated. Royal Chantenay carrot was created by Northrup King Seed Company. They seleced their breeding stock from ‘Red Cored Chantenay’ and released Royal Chantenay in 1952. Great carrot for heavy or shallow soils. Cylindrical, stump-rooted, 5-7″ long X 2.5-3.5″ wide. Sturdy 15-20″ tops. Red-orange flesh that is fine grained and sweet. Very dependable heavy yields. Excellent for market, home canning or freezing. ***1/2 oz. is approximately 8,000 seeds.
